Purchasing/Inventory Supervisor

Are you a detail-orientated pro with a knack for managing inventory and sourcing the best deal?  ECVC is looking for a dynamic Purchasing/Inventory Supervisor to join our Materials Department to streamline our supply chain and ensure we always have what we need when we need it. 
 
As a Purchasing/Inventory Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing the material planning, procurement, and inventory control functions to support day-to-day production operations. You will be required to supervise and train the receiving staff.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Purchasing
• Procures raw materials and supplies required for production operations.
• Sources vendors of raw materials, and supplies needed for existing and proposed lines of business.
• Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, delivery schedule, and terms of sale.
• Researches and evaluates vendors based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, and reliability.
• Places orders with vendors.  Revises orders as needed.  May receive purchase requests from others or initiate orders based on standard stock levels or other order issuing criteria.
• Follows-up on orders to ensure satisfactory delivery.
• Checks specific delivery information and availability of purchased materials.
• Arranges for substitute vendors/products when necessary.
• Contacts vendors to determine correct action for defective/unacceptable goods, shortages, and late deliveries.
• Reviews all open purchase orders on a weekly basis.  Communicates with vendors and other staff to research open items and resolve discrepancies.
• Obtains certificates of conformance, SDS, or other required production information from vendors.
 
Inventory Control
• Maintains appropriate inventory levels with consideration for demand, established reorder points, delivery lead-time, storage capacities, shelf life, cost of stock, and other factors.
• Performs physical counts of inventory and matches results to inventory records.
• Analyzes inventory reports to identify fast- and slow-moving items.
• Monitors inventory availability and movement of materials and supplies to meet production schedules.

• Mathematical Skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Calculation of percentages, ratios, or averages. 
• Record Keeping – Enter, check, and verify data; must be detail-oriented.
• Computer Literacy – Basic understanding of computers and the following computer applications: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Microsoft Business Central/NAV, etc.  
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Medium work with lifting and/or moving objects up to 50 lbs. occasionally, 25 lbs. frequently.
• Standing/walking up to 50% of time.
• Ability to hear/speak or otherwise communicate effectively and efficiently with others.
• Good near visual acuity or ability to see small print.  
• Ability to use hands/arms or otherwise operate computers, printers, tools, and equipment.    
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Climate-controlled office and warehouse environments.
• Potential exposure to dust.  
• Work around moving machinery and equipment.
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, industrial engineering, or related field required.  
• Strong organizational skills
• Effective communication skills
• Strong data entry skills
• 1-2 years of purchasing/inventory control experience.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
