Major Job Functions:
- Answers, directs, and takes phone messages.
- Greets patients and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
- Register patient, process and scan patient demographics, and insurance information (referrals, photo ID, and authorizations).
- Confirms ECU Health COR numbers are in MedInformatix.
- Notify patients of delays, rescheduling, etc.
- Schedule appointments and add-on examinations as needed.
- Calls for written copy of referral as needed.
- Use Insurance Portals to verify Health Insurance.
- Makes sure all patient referrals are printed from email and scanned into MedInformatix.
- Assist patients for film/CD pick up.
- Sends/Mails patient images requested by outside facilities.
- Print logo and name on CD after images have been burned.
- Faxes reports on request.
- Takes care of patient’s needs after exam (on their way out) and schedules next appointment.
- Calls for patient transportation as needed.
- Keeps front lobby and bathrooms neat and clean and maintains a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Disinfects counters at end of day.
- Locks front doors at the end of the day.
- Print/cancel No Shows and fax information to provider on diagnostic studies.
- Accepts payments from patients.
- Counts petty cash at the end of each day.
- Follow all HIPAA and OSHA guidelines.
Specifications:
- Education: High School diploma or GED
- Experience: Clerical and clinical experience preferred
- Certification/License/Registration: None
- Position Titles and Number Supervised: None.
- Special Training/Skills: Must be able to remain calm in stressful situations. Ability to be flexible and work on multiple projects. Ability to interact on all levels. Must have good communication skills. Must be courteous at all times with interdepartmental personnel and patients.
- Physical Demands:. General vision, clear speech, hearing, reading, writing, standing, walking. May use some repetitive movements, bend, kneel or move or carry light objects. Occasional filing or typing.
- Working Conditions: Works in a medical facility. Works with others in verbal and face-to-face contact.
