As an Admissions/Assessment Specialist, you will be the first point of contact for those seeking employment training and/or job placement through our Program Department. Coordinates the recruiting, admissions, and onboarding process for all program enrollments. In addition, provides community-based vocational assessment and Social Security benefits counseling as stand-alone direct services when required by client needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
Admissions
- Utilizes a variety of methods to inform potential referral sources, clients, and caregivers about ECVC services.
- Accepts and responds to inquiries from the public and potential referral sources to provide relevant information about ECVC services, what they have to offer, and whether they will meet the needs of the potential client.
- Coordinates all ECVC-sponsored recruitment events including pre-event planning and marketing, triage of presenting needs, reverse referrals to funding agencies as appropriate, and follow-up with participants and/or funding agencies.
- Attends and presents at community functions to inform and/or recruit potential clients.
- Accepts, reviews, and analyzes official referral packets according to established eligibility criteria and required documentation. Requests clarification or additional documentation from referral sources when needed to make eligibility decisions.
- Summarizes referral information and presents to Admissions Committee with a recommendation regarding acceptance for program enrollment.
- Serves as Chair of the Admissions Committee. Participates with other Admissions Committee members to screen referrals and make acceptance decisions for all ECVC programs.
- Inform referrals of eligibility decisions. If ineligible, informs referrals of the reasons and recommendations for alternative services as appropriate.
- Maintains waiting lists for program enrollment.
- Schedules and conduct pre-admission orientation. Completes all paperwork required for program admission.
- Verifies and records critical information necessary for program enrollment, i.e., guardianship issues, emergency medical/safety information, etc.
Vocational Assessment
- Conducts community-based vocational assessments with clients authorized to receive this service. This may include situational assessment and career exploration including job shadowing, job sampling, and/or job trial.
- Engage community employers to develop job sites for assessment purposes. Evaluate potential sites prior to use to ensure accessibility, safety, and considerations identified as appropriate to the client.
- Complete job/task analysis when necessary to on-the-job assessment of specific skills.
- Ensure compliance with regulations regarding payment of wages during assessment activities.
- Interviews clients and families/others when appropriate to obtain vocationally-relevant information.
- Develops an individualized assessment plan with input from the client to assess job skills, job interests, work-related behaviors, need for potential accommodation, and/or other information pertinent to potential employment.
- Conducts and records behavioral observations.
- Utilizes appropriate psychometric tests and work samples when appropriate and under supervision.
- Analyze and interpret the totality of assessment data/results in order to arrive at conclusions and recommendations.
- Prepare a written assessment report for each client served that summarizes the results of the assessment including strengths of the client, potential employment goals, potential barriers to achieving goals, services/support needed, and other pertinent information and/or recommendations.
Social Security Benefits Counseling
- Attains and maintains certification as a Social Security Benefits Counselor.
- Provides accurate information and explanation to clients, and their families when appropriate, on how work and earnings may affect their Social Security benefits including Social Security Disability Insurance, Supplemental Security Income, State Supplement, Medicare, and/or Medicaid.
- Advises clients on available work incentives.
- Advises clients on wage reporting responsibilities and provides training on how to utilize online reporting applications.
- Provides explanation to clients regarding correspondence from Social Security.
- Refers clients to professional payee services when appropriate.
Miscellaneous
- Maintains timely, ongoing communication with clients, referral source, internal staff, and others as appropriate to facilitate the admissions process and/or service delivery.
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams required for program operations and service delivery.
- Maintains records as required, paper and/or electronic, meeting both accuracy and timeliness requirements.
- Maintains required training and/or certifications to avoid expiration of credentials.
- Assists with transportation arrangements for clients as necessary.
- Drives clients in company and/or personal vehicle to facilitate service delivery.
- Provides advocacy for employment of persons with disability including providing disability awareness training and attending/participating in public relations events.
- Provides counseling and guidance on vocational matters. Refers to other specialists for non-vocational issues.
- Other duties as assigned.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve on various company committees unrelated to primary duty, e.g., employee engagement, safety, etc.
- Maintain inventory of testing supplies.
- Assist in collecting satisfaction data regarding service delivery.
- Serves as backup for direct service providers outside primary area of responsibility.
- Assists with administrative tasks and reporting as directed.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Full-time, in-office position, typically M-F 8:00am to 4:30 pm. Some community-based work required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Studies, Social Work, or other human service field.
- 1-2 years related human service experience preferred. Recent graduates with relevant internship, volunteer, and/or project learning experience will be considered.
- Must attain Social Security Benefits Counselor certification within 12 months of hire unless formally waived by VP of Workforce Operations.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
- Dedication to excellent customer relations/experience.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
