OVERVIEW
Under the supervision of the Unit Director, the Program Director is responsible for overseeing the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of a specific program for youth between the ages of 6 and 18 within a designated Club. Program responsibility supports our priority outcome areas of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, Good Character and Citizenship. The Program Director also provides leadership and supervision to assigned program leaders and volunteers; manages budgets and controls expenses and assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Establish Club program objectives consistent with organizational goals and mission. Oversee the provision of day-to-day program activities in accordance with established standards and goals. Ensure that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of program areas/activities and receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills in program area(s). Demonstrate leadership to assure conduct, safety and development of members.
Prepare Youth for Success
- Creates an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.
- Promotes and stimulates daily learning as well as participation in designated national and special event programs.
- Orient new members to program areas, special events, and opportunities as well as Club safety, program and disciplinary rules.
- Provides guidance and role modeling to members and YDPs.
Program Development and Implementation
- Implements, monitors and evaluates programs, services and activities for members.
- Develops and posts weekly and monthly program plans.
- Monitors and evaluates programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members and quality in programs
- Recognizes Club members for program participation and achievement
- Maintains records to track attendance and participation
- Monitors supply needs
- Keeps supply room neat and orderly
- Maintain CACFP point of services and clean up
Supervision
- Implements, Monitors and evaluates programs, services and activities for members
- Develops and posts weekly and monthly programs plans
- Monitors and evaluates programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members and quality in programs
- Recognizes Club members for program participation and achievement.
- Monitors unit CACFP meal program, including point of service meal counts, clean up, and complete required training such as Civil Rights Training.
Facility
- Ensures program areas are attractive, neat and clean and bulletin boards/notices are current.
- Makes and/or recommends needed repairs to facility and/or equipment.
Marketing and Public Relations
- Increase visibility of Club programs via posting of daily schedule, announcements of u-upcoming events and the dissemination of timely information for the development of advertising and promotion through mailings, fliers, media releases and social media.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must possess an bachelor’s degree or higher from an institution of higher learning.
- Must complete BSAC training (company-paid) within three (3) months of employment.
- Must submit three (3) professional references.
- Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications, or willingness to obtain within 3 months of employment.
- A minimum of 1 year of direct youth service experience and will have a demonstrable record of planning and implementing youth programs. Combined experience and/or formal training equivalent to a minimum of three years where:
- There is experience working with youth and knowledge of youth development.
- Formal training, and/or experience teaching youth while creating engaging learning experiences.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong project management and organizational skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills and be a team player.
- Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
- Ability to deal with the general public.
- Ability to plan and implement quality learning programs for youth.
- Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment
HEALTH AND MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must successfully complete a drug screening, background check, fingerprinting, health examination and TB test prior to employment.
ENVIRONMENT AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Daily contact with Club leaders, Club members, outside organizations and individuals to plan, coordinate and deliver programs. Normal internal office environment. Travel to special events and field trips required. Occasional weekend work required to accomplish objectives.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:
The job requires the ability to stand for extended periods, kneel, reach, bend, and lift objects weighing in excess of 25lbs. Outdoor work and moderate physically demanding activities may be required on occasion.
