As an Employment Specialist, t
his position helps individuals with disabilities find and keep meaningful jobs. This role includes identifying job opportunities, providing job coaching, and supporting long-term job success. Employment Specialist work closely with clients, employers, EIPD Transition Counselors, and family members. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to effectively promote clients to employers. 

Employment Specialist may perform any combination of the tasks below:  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Client Development & Case Management 

  • Conduct intake interviews and assess clients’ backgrounds, work history, strengths, and barriers to employment, and complete all required documentation, including case notes, intake forms, and employment plans. 

  • Get to know each client to better understand their skills, preferences, and support needs for successful job placement. 

  • Develop employment plans that align with clients’ abilities and interests. 

  • Maintain accurate records of client progress, employer feedback, and job placement outcomes. 

  • Attend all required meetings, including monthly EIPD meetings, to support clients and job placements. 

Job Placement & Employer Engagement 

  • Identify job opportunities that match client’s skills, interests, and abilities. 

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with local businesses to create employment opportunities. 

  • Conduct job analysis to match clients with appropriate positions and recommend job modifications when necessary. 

  • Assist clients with job applications, resume writing, and interview preparation. 

  • Effectively market client’s skills and abilities to potential employers through cold calling, networking, and in-person meetings. 

  • Meet ECVC’s job placement goals by successfully placing clients in competitive employment. 

  • Be flexible with work schedules to meet the needs of individuals, which could include working evenings, weekends and holidays. 

 Retention & Follow-Up Services 

  • Provide support for at least 90 days to help clients maintain their jobs and succeed in the workplace. 

  • Help clients with transportation, workplace adjustments, or other issues that may affect job success. 

  • Maintain regular communication with clients, employers, and support networks. 

  • Work with the Community Support Specialist to smoothly transition eligible clients to Long-Term Follow-Up services. 

Requirements:

  • Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field preferred (e.g., Social Work, Psychology, Special Education). 
  • 1-2 years of experience in case management, employment services, workforce development, or sales (a plus). 
  • Exceptional communication skills, including negotiation, building partnerships, presenting information, and writing detailed reports.
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on client work hours and coaching needs.
  • Passion for supporting clients in achieving their employment goals.

  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
