POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing strategic marketing, branding, and communication initiatives that enhance the visibility and impact of the Greenville-Pitt County Chamber of Commerce. As the chamber’s lead marketing and communications professional, this role collaborates with all departments and staff to define and execute marketing, internal and external communications, and brand strategies that support the chamber’s mission and objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Marketing & Branding:
- Develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies to promote chamber programs, events, and initiatives.
- Ensure consistency in branding, messaging, and visual identity across all communication channels.
- Create compelling marketing materials, including advertisements, newsletters, and digital content.
- Manage advertising sales for annual Glimpse magazine and develop content, directories, and statistics for publication.
Communications & Public Relations:
- Serve as the primary media contact, drafting news releases and coordinating media coverage.
- Develop and manage all member communications, including email campaigns, newsletters, annual report, and website updates.
- Foster relationships with local media, business leaders, and community stakeholders.
Digital & Social Media Management:
- Oversee the chamber’s website, ensuring up-to-date and engaging content.
- Develop and manage social media content across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn).
- Monitor and analyze digital engagement, metrics to optimize marketing efforts.
Event Promotion & Support:
- Collaborate with director of events to market chamber programs, signature events, and networking opportunities.
- Develop promotional campaigns for sponsorships, attendance growth, and community engagement.
- Assist with event branding, signage, and on-site media coordination.
Membership & Community Engagement:
- Support membership recruitment and retention efforts through targeted marketing initiatives.
- Develop materials and campaigns that communicate the value of chamber investment.
- Engage with members to understand their communication needs and preferences.
SPECIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in marketing, communications, or public relations, preferably in a business, non-profit, or chamber setting.
- Strong writing and editing with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.
- Knowledge of social media best practices and digital marketing strategies.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
