Communications and Events Coordinator

Description:
The goal of the Communications and Events Coordinator is to enhance outreach and communication with investors, stakeholders, and the community to promote engagement and understanding of economic development activities. This position reports to the VP of Marketing and provides robust support to all staff as it relates to communication and event needs.
Essential Job Functions:
This position will engage with and support marketing efforts through communications, event coordination, and community outreach. Primary responsibilities will include event planning, digital marketing and promotion, and community involvement. This includes assisting with external communication and managing social media platforms for the Greenville ENC Alliance. Duties include:
- Lead coordination and planning for events for investors, stakeholders, and community members
- Manage communication and outreach with private investors and external stakeholders
- Assist with media pitching and interview coordination
- Maintain stakeholder contact databases through Excel and CRMs (Salesforce and MailChimp)
- Attend stakeholder meetings and community events on behalf of the organization
- Assist with planning and content creation for social media, websites, and e-newsletter platforms
- Develop weekly digital media engagement plan
- Provide support to talent and workforce marketing outreach initiatives as required
- Provide support to small business outreach efforts as needed
- Assist with planning events for economic development prospects and visits
Additional Functions:
- Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Experience with investor/stakeholder engagement, event planning, and communication
- Experience and/or demonstrated comfort working with C-suite executives, higher education leaders, and governmental agencies to influence and impact business investment and economic development decisions
- Experience with graphic design software such as Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite
- Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), CRM databases (Salesforce, MailChimp, Greenvelope), and social media scheduling tools
- Demonstrated experience with social media management on platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution is required
Experience:
A minimum of two (2) years of experience in marketing, communications, fundraising, economic development, or a related field. Working knowledge of trends in economic development, collaborations of public-private partnerships, and support from institutions of higher learning. Demonstrated leadership experience in a highly responsive service organization in support of client relations and business services. Superior writing, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills with an attention to detail.
