GREENVILLE, NC — According to the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA), Catholic high school students have a 99% chance of graduating, and a nearly 85% chance of attending a four-year college. At John Paul II Catholic High School (JPII), we are proud that every one of our graduates has been accepted to college.
To bring these opportunities to as many deserving students as possible, John Paul II Catholic High School announces the JPII Merit Scholarship to help motivated and deserving 8th grade students in Pitt County Schools offset the cost of a Catholic high school education, and reap its benefits for the rest of their lives.
Scholarship Information
- One 8th grade student at each of the K-8 or 6-8 Pitt County Schools will be selected. Students do not have to be Catholic to be eligible.
- Applications will be evaluated based on academic performance, evidence of leadership capability, service/volunteerism, and demonstrated financial need.
- Scholarship amount is $6,500 per year for 4 years.
To learn more about the scholarship and apply, by February 28, 2018 at 5:00 p.m., visit jp2highschool.com/scholarships. Students interested in learning more about the school are encouraged to attend Open House on Thursday, February 15 at 6:30 p.m.
To further enhance the JPII student experience, the school is adding an athletic complex adjacent to the existing academic campus on 14th Street. The addition of the athletic complex expands the footprint of the campus from 8 acres to 31 acres. The project includes:
- gymnasium for basketball and volleyball
- football field with track
- baseball field
- soccer field
- softball field
“Not only does this project provide our students with top-notch facilities to compete on the playing field, but further enhances the school’s role as a good neighbor in the community,” said Principal Craig Conticchio.
JPII currently fields 14 sports teams including baseball, volleyball, and men’s and women’s basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, swimming, and track and field. The addition of these facilities will allow the school to grow its athletic program to include football, lacrosse, softball, and wrestling. Construction is scheduled to begin in April with the new facilities ready for most sports in the 2018-2019 school year.
