About Us

The Humane Society of Eastern Carolina (HSEC) is a dedicated nonprofit organization committed to the welfare of animals. Founded on a mission of compassion and driven by the tireless efforts of volunteers and staff, our organization works to find homes for hundreds of animals every year.

HSEC is supported entirely by donations, fundraising events, and grants. We are not affiliated with national organizations such as the Humane World for Animals (formerly known as the Humane Society of the United States and Humane Society International) or the ASPCA. Our work encompasses rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming efforts, ensuring that every animal receives the care and attention they deserve as we work towards a future where every creature can thrive.

Through the love, generosity, and commitment of our donors, and sponsors through our fundraisers, we have been able to save the lives of thousands of homeless and neglected pets. On average, 80% of our animals are pulled from shelters in our community and surrounding communities that have to be euthanized for space.
