On April 12, 2025, we are hosting the third annual community Wellness at Wildwood event from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Wildwood Park in Greenville, NC, in collaboration with the Building Resilience and Courage to Excel (BRACE) coalition.
MPPFC is a local non-profit organization that funds programs for early literacy, quality early child care and learning, assistance in finding child care services, parent and family support, and health care during the first 2,000 days of a child's life, which is roughly the time between a child's birth and the day they arrive for their first day of kindergarten. Studies show that 90% of a child's brain development occurs during the first five years of life, and early childhood experiences build the foundation for future learning.
Our partner coalition, BRACE, operates as a collaborative referral network to reduce Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) in Pitt County and increase community resilience. BRACE includes members of law enforcement, social services agencies, mental health practices, childcare providers, the health department, physicians' offices, and university researchers.
We want to empower the community to build a culture of resilience to lessen the impact of trauma through collaboration, education, advocacy, and compassion.
The Wellness at Wildwood event aims to promote wellness, build resilience, and spread awareness on preventing child abuse throughout the community.
We hope to offer kayaking, bounce houses, an egg hunt, food truck vendors, and resiliency activities and resources at this year's event.
With your support, we are one step closer to ensuring our community members have the resiliency tools necessary for success. If you have any questions, please call 252.758.8885 or email kmahaffy@mppfc.org. Thank you for joining us and making a difference in our community
